Early 19th Century French Provincial Burled Ash Bookcase

Fine quality First Empire French Provincial bibliotheque made of remarkable burled ash with book-matched grain throughout. Four upper doors retaining the original glass over four lower cupboard doors. The simple lines enhanced by the highly figured timber with a rich color and glowing patination. Fabric and back lighting, added later, adds to the beauty of this showcase piece. Signed by the maker “George Kunnegil, Ribeauville, Alsace, 1818.”
