Early 17th Century French Provincial Louis XIII Period Armchair

A wonderfully early form of a 17th century French Provincial Louis XIII period armchair. This classic hall chair has a rectangular back and is made of deeply patinated Circassia walnut. The downward sweeping curved arms and bell flower decoration over intricately carved and turned legs joined with shaped and molded stretchers give this chair an extremely elegant look.

Southwest France, circa 1640
